Titre : Elements of causal inference : foundations and learning algorithms Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jonas Peters ; Dominik Janzing ; Bernhard Schölkopf Editeur : Cambridge, MA : MIT Press Année de publication : 2017 Collection : Adaptive computation and machine learning series Importance : XIV-265 p. Présentation : fig., tabl. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-262-03731-0 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. [235]-262. Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Descripteurs : Algorithme mathématique , Apprentissage automatique , Causalité , Inférence statistique Ensemble de méthodes permettant de tirer des conclusions fiables à partir de données d'échantillons statistiques, Logique mathématiqueIndex. décimale : 214 Statistique inférentielle Résumé : The mathematization of causality is a relatively recent development, and has become increasingly important in data science and machine learning. This book is a concise and self-contained introduction to causal inference, increasingly important in data science and machine learning. After explaining the need for causal models and discussing some of the principles underlying causal inference, the book teaches readers how to use causal models: how to compute intervention distributions, how to infer causal models from observational and interventional data, and how causal ideas could be exploited for classical machine learning problems. All of these topics are discussed first in terms of two variables and then in the more general multivariate case. The bivariate case turns out to be a particularly hard problem for causal learning because there are no conditional independences as used by classical methods for solving multivariate cases. It considers analyzing statistical asymmetries between cause and effect to be highly instructive, and reports on decade of intensive research into this problem. Titre : Empirical asset pricing : models and methods Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Wayne E. Ferson Editeur : Cambridge, MA : MIT Press Année de publication : 2019 Importance : XIV-476 p. Présentation : fig. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-262-03937-6 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. 417-450. Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Descripteurs : Estimation (Théorie) , Méthode des moments , Modèle économétrique , Rentabilité financière , Stock Index. décimale : 789 Gestion d'actifs Résumé : This book offers a comprehensive advanced introduction to asset pricing, the study of models for the prices and returns of various securities. The focus is empirical, emphasizing how the models relate to the data. The book offers a uniquely integrated treatment, combining classical foundations with more recent developments in the literature and relating some of the material to applications in investment management. It covers the theory of empirical asset pricing, the main empirical methods, and a range of applied topics. The book introduces the theory of empirical asset pricing through three main paradigms: mean variance analysis, stochastic discount factors, and beta pricing models. It describes empirical methods, beginning with the generalized method of moments (GMM) and viewing other methods as special cases of GMM; offers a comprehensive review of fund performance evaluation; and presents selected applied topics, including a substantial chapter on predictability in asset markets that covers predicting the level of returns, volatility and higher moments, and predicting cross-sectional differences in returns. Other chapters cover production-based asset pricing, long-run risk models, the Campbell-Shiller approximation, the debate on covariance versus characteristics, and the relation of volatility to the cross-section of stock returns. An extensive reference section captures the current state of the field.
