Titre : Economic dynamics in discrete time Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jianjun Miao (1969-....) Editeur : Cambridge, MA : MIT Press Année de publication : 2014 Importance : XXI-710 p. Présentation : fig., tabl. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-262-02761-8 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. 661-681. Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Descripteurs : Econométrie , Economie mathématique , Modèle dynamique , Modèle économétrique Tags : Discrete-time systems Index. décimale : 28 Econométrie - Modélisation Résumé : This book offers a unified, comprehensive, and up-to-date treatment of analytical and numerical tools for solving dynamic economic problems. The focus is on introducing recursive methods—an important part of every economist’s set of tools—and readers will learn to apply recursive methods to a variety of dynamic economic problems. The book is notable for its combination of theoretical foundations and numerical methods. Each topic is first described in theoretical terms, with explicit definitions and rigorous proofs; numerical methods and computer codes to implement these methods follow. Drawing on the latest research, the book covers such cutting-edge topics as asset price bubbles, recursive utility, robust control, policy analysis in dynamic New Keynesian models with the zero lower bound on interest rates, and Bayesian estimation of dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models.
The book first introduces the theory of dynamical systems and numerical methods for solving dynamical systems, and then discusses the theory and applications of dynamic optimization. The book goes on to treat equilibrium analysis, covering a variety of core macroeconomic models, and such additional topics as recursive utility (increasingly used in finance and macroeconomics), dynamic games, and recursive contracts. The book introduces Dynare, a widely used software platform for handling a range of economic models; readers will learn to use Dynare for numerically solving DSGE models and performing Bayesian estimation of DSGE models. Mathematical appendixes present all the necessary mathematical concepts and results. [D'après le résumé de l'éditeur]

Titre : Economics rules : the rights and wrongs of the dismal science Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Dani Rodrik (1957-....) Editeur : New York ; Londres : W. W. Norton & Company Année de publication : 2015 Importance : XV-253 p. Format : 21 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-393-35341-9 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. 217-231. Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Descripteurs : Economie mathématique , Economie politique , Histoire économique Tags : Mathématiques économiques Index. décimale : 61 Économie générale Résumé : In the wake of the financial crisis and the Great Recession, economics seems anything but a science. In this sharp, this masterfully argued book takes a close look at economics to examine when it falls short and when it works, to give a surprisingly upbeat account of the discipline. Drawing on the history of the field and his deep experience as a practitioner, the book argues that economics can be a powerful tool that improves the world—but only when economists abandon universal theories and focus on getting the context right. It also argues that the discipline's much-derided mathematical models are its true strength. Models are the tools that make economics a science.
